The St. Lawrence Book Award for a First Collection
The Hudson Prize
Awarded annually for any unpublished collection of poetry or short stories. Prize includes book publication, $1,000 cash award, ten author copies of the book, and an interview of the winner in The Adirondack Review.

The Black River Chapbook Competition (Spring)
Awarded twice annually for a chapbook (16-36 pages) of poetry or short stories. Winner receives $300 and 25 copies of chapbook.

Black Lawrence Press will start announcing all finalists and semi-finalists of contests on the website on or before May 31, 2008 with the announcement of the Hudson Prize finalists and semi-finalists. The winner of the Hudson Prize will be announced on the website shortly thereafter.

It is no longer necessary to send a SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope) with contest entries or regular submissions. All authors should check the site for status of contest entries. Authors sending regular (i.e., non-contest) submissions will be notified by e-mail, so please be sure to include a valid e-mail address with all work.
